Express Protein XTR-4

The latest addition to their already superb protein based product line up, Express Protein XTR-4 from Boditronics is a blended protein product which uses an extremely well designed formula to provide what is arguably one of the best amino acid profiles available on the market today. The base of the blend is comprised of equal proportions of whey, casein, egg and soy proteins, the combination of which provides an optimal ratio of amino acids to promote muscular recovery and growth over an extended period of time. Express Protein XTR-4 contains 40g of this precision blend along with a superb addition in the form of glutamine peptides. Glutamine is well known for its use in both the sports and well being sectors as a powerful tool for muscular recovery and immune system support, however, the widely used free form version, L-Glutamine, is not so effective when used in muscular recovery applications. This is due to the majority of L-Glutamine being absorbed by the intestines and the liver and not finding its way to the muscles. Express Protein XTR-4 uses peptide bonded glutamine, which unlike it’s free form brother, better passes the digestive tract and into the bloodstream thus becoming readily available to aid in muscular recovery where it is needed most! The great thing about this product is how versatile it is. The combination of the fast, medium and slow digesting protein sources means that this product is suited for all applications regardless of the time of day. First thing in the morning, as a snack, post training, before bed... Express Protein XTR-4 covers all the bases making it a powerful tool in one’s supplement arsenal.

A note on taste and mixability. I used the Rich Chocolate variant for this review and ‘rich’ definitely is an appropriate word! A superbly smooth taste which is strong but balanced perfectly against the creamy mouth feel created by the casein and egg components and then topped off with the unmistakeable aroma of chocolate. Very impressed! Mixability was not an issue, two scoops, 300ml of water, a few shakes and the powder was into solution and thickening up nicely.
